Good day Everyone! Thanks for stopping by and reading our blog. Today’s topic is about the pre garnishment and bank levy letters issued by the IRS, prior to them taking action in garnishing your wages, including social security and bank levying your accounts.
We urge you to NOT ignore those pesky IRS letters. This is the reason why: WAGE GARNISHMENT AND BANK LEVY. If you decide to bury your head in the sand and ignore your tax obligations, at some point in time it will catch up with you. Believe me!
CP 90 and CP 504 letters issued by the IRS are the warning letters. You usually receive these prior to the IRS taking action and issuing you the final letters. CP 90 is specifically issued to those who are on social security income. CP 504 letters are for everyone else who owes taxes.
CP 91 AND LT 11 are the letters you will receive from the IRS stating they will be taking action and issuing garnishment and possible bank levy. The reason the IRS issues letters is to give each taxpayer the opportunity to call and to stop collection activity.
Say you wake up one day and go and check your bank account. If you have zero funds in your bank it’s because you have been bank levied! Most social security income is directly deposited into a bank account. So, if you notice a deposit is lighter than usually. It could be because you have been garnished! The IRS can garnish up to 15% of social security income.

So, please don’t let this happen to you, because in reality all you need to do is set up a payment plan or other resolution like currently not collectible or offer in compromise to avoid being garnished or bank levied.
