If you are considering making a move and want to save some money at the same time.
Consider moving to one of the 9 states that will not tax your income and collect state taxes. Below is a short review of the first 5 states with links to each state visitor's guides. Check it out!
Alaska - If you love nature and the outdoors this state may be a good choice. No state income tax plus if you reside there for more than a year they will give you a tax rebate up to $1000.00
It can be expensive to live in this state even though they don’t have a state income tax, they may tax other personal property depending on where you live.
Florida - The Sunshine State! Do you love the sun? Tired of cold wet winters? I’ve lived in the Sunshine state for 16 years now. Most of the people in this state are from someplace else. If you are looking for mild winters this is the state for you! Keep in mind Florida is very muggy at times especially during the summer months. The cost of living can be expensive depending on where you reside. However, the flip side are the miles and miles of beautiful beaches and endless things to do outdoors! Plus no snow!!!
Nevada - Desert, Casinos and much more! Compared to most of the country you can still find some cheap rental rates in Nevada. It is also so close to all of my favorite National Parks so if you are an outdoor enthusiast this would be a good move for you! Nevada is also a destination for many retirees. They also have one of the lowest property taxes in the country! So, if you can tolerate the hot dry summers, and are in the market to buy it, maybe it's worth taking a look at homes in the area.
New Hampshire - Live free or Die is the state's motto. If you want a taste of the four seasons then New Hampshire is a great place to live! I grew up in New Hampshire and miss 3 out of 4 of the seasons. New England tends to be more expensive to live in but you get a mix of so many things to do. Not far is Boston MA home to the famous Patriots, Fenway Hall and so much more. Go I bit north and you are in the White Mountains and the Lake Regions. Take a trip to Maine and go up the coast to Portland or Bar Harbor for some famous views and great seafood! New England is one of the safest places when it comes to natural disasters.
South Dakota - Again a jewel if you live for being outdoors and want a variety of things to do. Go visit Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Crazy Horse and so much more! Cost of living is pretty good in SD and on average rents are still somewhat reasonable. If you are looking for a relatively not so crowded place to live, the average population in Sioux Falls in 2022 was around 202,000. The average temperature during the winter is pretty cold so if you are not a wintry type of person then this state is probably not for you. However, you will love the temperatures come spring and summer which can average around mid 60’s to low to mid 70’s.
